Computer science Engineering
Computer science (or computing science) is the study of the
theoretical foundations of information and computation and their implementation
and application in computer systems. Computer science has many sub-fields; some
emphasize the computation of specific results (such as computer graphics),
while others relate to properties of computational problems (such as
computational complexity theory). Still others focus on the challenges in
implementing computations.
Computer science is an integral part of our lives, shaping
virtually everything from the objects around us to the ways in which we
communicate, travel, work, and play. And the computer revolution has just begun
– CS is now a key enabler for discovery and innovation in most other fields of
endeavor, making it an incredibly relevant course of study.
For example, programming language theory studies approaches
to describing computations, while computer programming applies specific
programming languages to solve specific computational problems. A further
subfield, human-computer interaction, focuses on the challenges in making
computers and computations useful, usable and universally accessible to people.
Job Prospects:
The job prospects for computer engineers are increasing
rapidly both in India and abroad because of the booming in this industry.
System study, analysis, design and programming are the main areas which provide
various probabilities to the computer science and engineering graduates to
shape themselves in their career. Computer engineers develop computer programs
for industries. Their work involves the design, development and maintenance of
software. They are engaged in analyzing problems for solutions, formulating and
testing, using advanced communications or multi-media equipment or working in
teams for product development.
A computer engineering graduate with a high percentage of
mark and good communication skill are easily absorbed in reputed companies.
Along with the degree in computer science, the candidate should be well trained
in the latest software's. Software and IT companies are the main employers of
these graduates. They can also find job opportunities in a variety of
environments in university, research, private and public industries, government
departments, business organizations, commercial organizations and the
manufacturing sector etc.
Computer Engineers can work as a Software/ Hardware
Engineer, which are the two main sectors in the computer industry. Software is
the set of programmed instructions that enable a computer to perform specified
functions and Hardware covers the physical elements of a computer system, and
is concerned with the design, development, assembly, manufacture and
maintenance. They can work as programmers, web developers and E- commerce
specialists with industries that build or use computer-based systems, such as
telecommunications, automotive, aerospace, etc.
National and multi-national computer manufacturing companies; computer
hardware system design and development companies, computer networking
companies, software development companies as well as hardware assembling and
maintenance companies, data processing departments of modern industries and in
areas where computers and computer-aided systems are used, such as aeronautics
and space science, the petroleum industry, chemical plants and power plants and
management consultancy organizations are some among the probable work places.
Department:
The department of
Computer Science and
Engineering was started in the year 2001 right from the inception of the
Institution with an objective of imparting quality technical education in IT
field. The department is currently
headed by Dr. G T Raju who has more than 21 years of experience in the field.
The department offers BE and M.Tech degrees in Computer Science and Engineering
(CSE) with an intake 120 UG students and 24 PG students respectively.
The department has a VTU recognized R&D centre and
currently 18 research scholars are pursuing their research work leading to
PhD/MSc (Engg) degrees.
The department has state-Of-the-art laboratories, library
facility for staff & students and boasts of well trained, committed and
experienced teaching faculty with an average teaching experience of 10.04
years, who emphasize the theoretical and practical applications of computation
and computer systems to the needs of society.
The department is striving hard to make the unique spirit of
RNSIT, an Institution with a difference by promoting excellence in Teaching,
Research and Services covering the fundamentals as well as applied aspects of
Computer Science and IT.
The fast changing scenario in Computer Science and Engineering
necessitates the department to actively extend its focus and activities in Research
and Development Consultancy in IT related areas and Sponsored projects apart
from its excellent conventional UG and PG teaching.
Being a forerunner in the field of technology, the
department envisages evolving as a center of excellence to adapt itself to the
rapid advancements in various specialized fields. Computer Science and
Engineering continues to be the driving force of the nation's economy in the fields
of science and technology. We in the CSE department, at RNSIT, are very excited
