Computer Science Engineering:

B.E. in Computer Science and Engineering program is designed to create globally competent manpower for the information and communication technology (ICT) industry. At the same time, it is also designed to prepare the student for post graduate education in the best universities across the globe. These twin objectives are accomplished by including an optimal mix of fundamental theory subjects and practical, current and industry relevant subjects in the scheme of study.

For example, subjects such as data structures, algorithms, finite automata and formal languages, object oriented programming, graph theory and computer organization apart from advanced courses in mathematics such as linear algebra provide a solid foundation in the science of computing. To build on the theoretical foundation, courses such as computer networks, microprocessors, software engineering and Java programming among many others prepare the student not only for the Indian IT industry but also for multinationals and global companies.

Other courses such as database management systems, for instance, provide the student a good mix of theoretical and practical aspects of the particular technology. Such courses have theory and laboratory components that are well integrated throughout the semester. In addition, students choose from a wide array of elective courses in higher semesters to further their competence in their chosen area of specialization such as advanced computer architecture, computer networking, mobile communication, sensor networks and artificial intelligence.

These courses are revised frequently and include current topics such as Web 2.0, data analytics, cloud computing, mobile systems engineering, Web technologies and so on. In addition to the regular curriculum, the students get an opportunity to work as teaching and research assistants under the faculty members who are constantly involved in sponsored research and consulting projects. This includes computer systems, circuit boards, computer chips and computer equipment, such as modems, keyboards and printers. The Department of Computer science and engineering was started in the year 1997. Presently the intake of the department is 120. The department was accredited by NBA-AICTE in 2006.

The Department is headed by Dr. D. V. Ashoka, PhD.

The Department comprises of well equipped laboratories, Departmental Library, Student forum CREST-Computer Research for Engineering Students. Department is strengthened by well qualified faculty members whose main aim is to make students aware of the cutting edge technology with competence, commitment & team work.

CSE Department offers an excellent infrastructure. A continuous interaction with industries is established through sponsored projects & industrial visits. Invited lecturers are also organized on a regular basis in emerging technologies from experts in industries and institutions.

90% of the student projects are carried out in industries. Soft skills programs are conducted through placement cell to improve the overall personality.

The placement department got a head start during the academic year 2002-03. The brilliance, dynamism and high academic performance of students made it possible for the department to attract high profile recruiters.

In 2003, our college was placed in 8th place among the top 10 colleges in Karnataka, under VTU. This was one of the factors which contributed for admirable functioning of the placement department.

The department is not only conducting recruitment process but also organizing necessary personality development programs for the students.
