Electrical and Electronics Engineering:

Electrical and Electronics Engineering, is the branch of engineering concerned with the practical applications of electricity in all its forms, including those of the field of electronics.

Electronics engineering is that branch of electrical engineering concerned with the uses of the electromagnetic spectrum and with the application of such electronic devices as integrated circuits, transistors, and vacuum tubes.

Electrical Engineering is a field of engineering that generally deals with the study and application of electricity, electronics, and electromagnetism. Electrical engineering is considered to deal with the problems associated with systems such as electric power generation and electrical machines, whereas electronic engineering deals with the study of electronic systems including Computers, Power Electronics, Drives and Integrated circuits.

Job Prospects:

Electrical and electronics engineers are involved in a wide variety of technology ranging from huge global positioning systems which can pinpoint the location of a moving vehicle to gigantic electrical power generators.

These engineers are responsible for designing, developing, testing as well supervising the production of electrical and electronic equipment and machinery. Broadcast and telecommunication systems, electric motors, controls of machinery, lights and wiring in building complexes, vehicles, aircraft, radar and navigation systems, power generation, control and transmission devices which are used by electric utilities are all examples of equipment built by these engineers.

These engineers were employed in professional, scientific, and technical services firms as well as government agencies. Manufacturers of computer and electronic equipment and machinery also employed these engineers. The remaining engineers were absorbed by firms which deal in wholesale trade, communications, and utilities.

These engineers are involved in designing new products, writing requirements for their performance, as well as developing maintenance schedules and charts. Testing equipment and machinery, solving operation problems, estimating time and cost of electrical and electronic products also come under their job.

Course Description:

BNM Institute of Technology offers B.E in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
It is a 4 year full time course spread over 8 semesters.

Department Profile:

The department has many well equipped laboratories and Research & Development centre. It has excellent staff many of whom have secured University ranks in their post graduate degree from Institutions of International fame. They are actively involved in the Campus Connect program of Infosys and Mission 10X of Wipro.

They are regularly participating in International / National Conferences / Workshops to upgrade themselves. The faculty members of the department hold various positions in University body such as Chairman Board of Examiners, Paper setters, Examiners of UG/PG and Ph.D Programs.

The department has various Professional Society Memberships and an in-house association to provide platform for developments in the field of Electrical & Electronics Engineering. The department has 20 faculty members in various designations.

BNM Institute of Technology, Bangalore set up in the Year 2001 with an intake of 120 students and currently headed by Dr. B.G. Prasad, the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at BNMIT is renowned for imparting state of the art education and also carrying out cutting edge research.

The Main goal of the department is to provide academic excellence, knowledge and nurture talent in the area of Computer Science. It has attracted some of the brightest students and faculty into its portals. Some of the Faculty members have graduated from prestigious Institutions like IIT, NIT, etc.

In addition to a strong UG program, the Department also offers 2 PG programs and has provided R&D facilities under VTU for Ph.D. and M.Sc. (Engg.) courses. The Department also undertakes research projects sponsored by the government agencies like VTU- VGST, AICTE, etc.
