Chemical Engineering:
Chemical engineering is a branch of engineering that applies
physical sciences (e.g. chemistry and physics) and life sciences (e.g. biology,
microbiology and biochemistry) together with mathematics and economics to
produce, transform, transport, and properly use chemicals, materials and
energy.
Chemical engineering largely involves the design,
improvement and maintenance of processes involving chemical or biological
transformations for large-scale manufacture. Chemical engineers ensure the
processes are operated safely, sustainably and economically.
Chemical engineering is the study and practice of
transforming substances at large scales for the tangible improvement of the
human condition. Such transformations are executed to produce other useful
substances or energy, and lie at the heart of vast segments of the chemical,
petroleum, pharmaceutical and electronic industries.
Chemical engineer job description:
Chemical engineers design the equipment and processes that
are used for manufacturing some types of products. Food, fuel, drugs, paper,
plastics, and chemicals are some of the most common products that chemical
engineers design processes for.
Designing a chemical manufacturing process requires a strong
background in mathematics, biology, physics, chemistry, and mechanical
engineering, so chemical engineers need to have a diverse academic background.
Chemical engineers can specialize in other areas, as well.
For example, some focus on developing certain types of products (like aluminum
cans). Others focus on particular processes, like making plastics
(polymerization) or burning chemicals to create other chemicals (oxidation). Since
chemical engineering is such a broad field, there are many opportunities for
specialization.
Course Description:
- M.V.J. College of engineering offers offers B.E in Chemical Engineering, a 4 year long under graduate course
- Divided into 8 semesters
- Imparts practical and theoretical knowledge of production, transformation, transportation and proper usage of molecules, chemicals, materials and energy and its related field.
