Chemical Engineering:
Chemical engineering is a branch of engineering that applies
physical sciences(e.g. chemistry and physics) and life sciences (e.g. biology,
microbiology and biochemistry) together with mathematics and economics to
produce, transform, transport, and properly use chemicals, materials and
energy.
It essentially deals with the engineering of chemicals,
energy and the processes that create and/or convert them. Modern chemical
engineers are concerned with processes that convert raw materials or chemicals
into more useful or valuable forms. They are also concerned with pioneering
valuable materials and related techniques – which are often essential to
related fields such as nanotechnology, fuel cells and bioengineering.
Chemical Engineer job description:
Chemical engineers can specialize in other areas, as well.
For example, some focus on developing certain types of products (like aluminum
cans). Others focus on particular processes, like making plastics
(polymerization) or burning chemicals to create other chemicals (oxidation).
Since chemical engineering is such a broad field, there are many opportunities
for specialization.
A chemical engineer designs and develops the processes that
make a diverse range of products. Their work focuses on changing the chemical,
biochemical and physical state of a substance to turn it into something else,
for example making plastic from oil.
They understand how to alter raw materials into required
products while taking into consideration health and safety and cost issues.
Course Description:
- DSCE offers B.E in Chemical Engineering
- Duration of course is 4 years, divided into 8 semesters
