BIT Patna Campus was established in the year 2006. The academic activities at the Patna Centre commenced in September 2006 with admission to the B.E. Programmes in Computer Science, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
From the academic session 2007-08, the intake at the Patna Centre was increased and additional streams were introduced at the undergraduate level.
Admissions to the Patna Centre are made through the AIEEE Exam and online Central Counseling conducted by the Central Counseling Board.

The sprawling campus is located adjacent to the Patna Airport and includes 5.25 lacs sq.ft. of academic space, adequate hostel accommodation for 1200 students and residential facilities for staff, dispensary, playground, gymnasium, and a guest house.
The Patna Centre is entirely residential, and all students reside in hostels on the campus. Each hostel provides comfortable accommodation, has a spacious dining hall, and all students must eat in their respective hostel messes.
The infrastructure includes well-equipped, modern laboratories, workshop, playgrounds, gymnasium, a library with over 15000 books, periodicals, national & International journals & other research material. Spacious lecture halls provide the most conducive atmosphere for learning. The entire campus is Wi-Fi enabled.
