Technology, Bangalore set up in the Year 2001 with an intake of 120
students and currently headed by Dr. B.G. Prasad, the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at BNMIT is renowned for imparting state of the art
education and also carrying out cutting edge research.
The institute is belongs to the Visvesvaraya Technological
University, Belgaum. It is a part of BNMEI (BNM Educational Institutions)
established by the Trust M/s. Bhageerathi Bai Narayana Rao Maanay Charities,
started in 1972.

The Main goal of the department is to provide academic
excellence, knowledge and nurture talent in the area of Computer Science. It
has attracted some of the brightest students and faculty into its portals. Some
of the Faculty members have graduated from prestigious Institutions like IIT, NIT,
etc.
In addition to a strong UG program, the Department also
offers 2 PG programs and has provided R&D facilities under VTU for Ph.D.
and M.Sc. (Engg.) courses. The Department also undertakes research projects
sponsored by the government agencies like VTU- VGST, AICTE, etc.
