College Details:
BMS College of
Engineering (BMSCE), Bangalore was started in the year 1946 by Late Sri. B.
M. Sreenivasaiah a great visionary and philanthropist and nurtured by his
illustrious son Late Sri. B. S. Narayan.
It is located on the Basavangudi Area Bull Temple Road,
opposite to the famous Bull Temple. Though a private engineering college, it is
partially funded by the Government of Karnataka.
BMSCE has the largest student population among the
engineering colleges in Karnataka, drawing students from other states of India
and abroad. One of the oldest engineering colleges in Karnataka, it celebrated
its "Diamond Jubilee" in 2006.
It is also known for the annual inter-collegiate
Techno-Cultural festival UTSAV, one of the prominent student-managed festivals
in the country. BMSCE has also been the university champions under VTU for the
most number of times by any college under the University. In 2011 in university
examination it topped with 32 Ranks.

The institute is the first private sector initiative in
engineering education in India. The college has completed 69 years of dedicated
service in the field of Engineering Education.
The institute today offers 13 Undergraduate & 16
Postgraduate courses both in conventional and emerging areas. 15 of its
Departments are recognized as Research Centers offering PhD/M.Sc (Engineering by Research) degrees in Science,
Engineering, Architecture and Management.

Computer science Engineering:
Computer science is an integral part of our lives, shaping
virtually everything from the objects around us to the ways in which we
communicate, travel, work, and play. And the computer revolution has just begun
– CS is now a key enabler for discovery and innovation in most other fields of

Computer science (or computing science) is the study of the

implementing computations.

subfield, human-computer interaction, focuses on the challenges in making
computers and computations useful, usable and universally accessible to people.

Computer engineers develop computer programs for industries.
Their work involves the design, development and maintenance of software. They
are engaged in analyzing problems for solutions, formulating and testing, using
advanced communications or multi-media equipment or working in teams for
product development.
The job prospects for computer engineers are increasing
rapidly both in India and abroad because of the booming in this industry.
System study, analysis, design and programming are the main areas which provide
various probabilities to the computer science and engineering graduates to
shape themselves in their career.
A computer engineering graduate with a high percentage of
mark and good communication skill are easily absorbed in reputed companies.
Along with the degree in computer science, the candidate should be well trained

the set of programmed instructions that enable a computer to perform specified
functions and Hardware covers the physical elements of a computer system, and

maintenance. They can work as programmers, web developers and E- commerce
specialists with industries that build or use computer-based systems, such as
telecommunications, automotive, aerospace, etc.

DEPARTMENT PROFILE
Department of Computer Science & Engineering started in
the year 1983 with an intake of 60 students for undergraduate program. The
intake was increased to 90 seats in 2000 and to120 in the year 2011.
The department is accredited by NBA AICTE in 2004 for 3
Years and in 2008 for 3years.The department of Computer Science &
Engineering also has PG program, M Tech (CSE) established in1992 with an intake
of 18.The Research Centre, Department of Computer Science & Engineering
started in the year 2010 under VTU ,Belgaum.
The research areas of
the center covers machine learning, cloud computing, big data analytics,
wireless networks, social networks analysis etc. Currently there are seven
registered guides ,who are experts in fields like artificial intelligence,
wireless networks, medical imaging, computational accelerators etc. There are 20 research scholars working
in the research center.
